The tennis tournament is a one of the Kiwanis Club of Mansfield’s major fundraisers with proceeds from the event benefiting the North Central Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and other charitable programs of the Kiwanis Club of Mansfield.

The Kiwanis Club of Mansfield thanks the following sponsors of the Bob Noel Tennis Classic.  Without their support, the Mansfield Kiwanis would not be able to put on the tournament nor would the Club be able to support its charitable programs to improve the lives of children.  Please help the Mansfield Kiwanis thank the following sponsors with your business and support!

2016 Bob Noel Tennis Classic

A crisp and sunny day provided a beautiful setting for the Kiwanis Club of Mansfield’s annual Bob Noel Tennis Classic on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at the Walnut Creek Country Club.  A full contingent of Club members worked both Friday evening and Saturday.  Nick Young and Katie Watson did a fantastic job in organizing the event, finding sponsors, ordering and distributing the shirts, etc.  A special thanks also to Todd Simmons, Steve Hallford and Todd Omer for their work in buying the food to grill for the participants, loading up and transporting the grill, propane, canopies, coolers, etc. that allowed the Club to have such a successful Club fundraising project.  Overall, our Club had 14 members work at various times during the event with an estimate of 64 hours donated by these Club members on Friday and Saturday.  The best part of these hours was the chance for the Club members to spend time together getting to know each other better while raising funds to serve the children of Mansfield and the World.

The Club should also thank Ernie Abraham for his service this year, and in the year’s past, as the tournament director.  Without Ernie’s help, our Club would never have been able to host the Bob Noel Tennis Classic.  Please click on the following link to view our Club’s online photo album: 2016 Bob Noel Tennis Classic Photos.

Cloudy skies and overnight rain may have delayed the start of the 2015 Bob Noel Tennis Classic on November 7, 2015, but the weather did not dampen the spirits of Mansfield Kiwanis Club members or the Bob Noel participants. The first matches for Saturday were pushed back from their 9:00 AM start until noon to allow the event officials time to dry out the courts.

This year’s Bob Noel featured around 140 entries which included mens, women’s, coed, singles and doubles. The Mansfield Kiwanis Club continued its tradition of providing lunch for the player’s and their families to thank them for participating in the tournament. The Bob Noel Tennis Classic is exception on the USTA tournament circuit in that the players are fed by the Club between matches.

The Bob Noel is always a favorite event for the Club members as it provides a perfect opportunity for the combination of service and fellowship among members. Each Club member can serve at the event by grilling, serving the participants or even providing “quality control” with testing the food as it comes off of the grill. Any member that missed this year’s Bob Noel is strongly encouraged to attend next year’s!
