On Friday, January 12, 2018, the Kiwanis Club of Mansfield was honored to recognize its Students and Teacher of the month for January. Andrew Bauer, an English Teacher at Mansfield Lake Ridge High School, is the January 2018 Teacher of the Month. Mr. Bauer has been with Mansfield ISD for 13 years. He joined the staff at Lake Ridge High School when it opened in 2012 and taught at Mary Lillard Intermediate School prior to Lake Ridge.
Mr. Bauer discussed the wonderful students and staff at Lake Ridge while receiving the Teacher of the Month Award. He also discussed the school’s philosophy that every student and facility member provides their own “sentence in the very special book that is Lake Ridge High School.” Mr. Bauer is very supportive of his students learning in environments beyond the classroom. He is currently supporting his students as they put their production of “Inherit The Wind” the famous, fictionalized adaption of the Scopes Monkey Trial which resulted in the conviction of John T. Scopes for teaching Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution to a high school science class in violation of Tennessee state law in 1925.
Also in attendance for Mr. Bauer’s receipt of the award was Brandon Johnson, the Principal at Lake Ridge High School. Mr. Johnson is new to Lake Ridge High School this semester however he is not new to MISD. Prior to accepting the Principal position at Lake Ridge, Mr. Johnson was the Assistant Principal at Mansfield Summitt High School.
Thank you Mr. Bauer for your commitment to the children of Mansfield and congratulations on being named as the Mansfield Kiwanis the Teacher of the Month!
