The Mansfield Kiwanis were thrilled to continue their tradition of recognizing outstanding Mansfield educators on Friday, October 13, 2017, by awarding Julie Williford with the October Teacher of the Month Award. Ms. Williford is a Fourth Grade Language Arts and Social Studies teacher at J.L. Boren Elementary. She has been teaching for 17 years and has spent the last 4 years in Mansfield I.S.D. Ms. Williford returned to teaching Fourth Grade last year after spending the previous two years teaching third grade at J.L. Boren. In addition to her teaching duties at school, Ms. Williford is the Faculty Advisor/Sponsor for the J.L. Boren “Happy Feet” Running Club. After graduating from Texas A&M, Ms. Williford took her first teaching job as a Fourth Grade teacher at Key Elementary in Arlington I.S.D. Ms. Williford entertained the Mansfield Kiwanis with stories from her years teaching including a Kindergartner’s advise to “taste words before saying them” and that she was once told by a student that she “smelled like a gummy bear.” Also attending the presentation of the Teacher of the Month Award to Ms. Williford was Tracy Johnson the Principal of J.L. Boren Elementary. Thank you Ms. Williford for inspiring the children of Mansfield! Congratulations on this well deserved recognition!
