Erick Li Awarded Ellis Langston Memorial Service Scholarship


The Kiwanis Club of Mansfield is thrilled to announce that the recipient of the Club’s $1,000 Ellis Langston Memorial Service Scholarship is Mansfield High School Senior Erick Li. During his time at MHS, Erick has been an active member of the MHS Key Club, named a Kiwanis Student of the Month in September 2016, and was the Lt. Governor for Division 39S during 2016 – 2017.

Erick will attend the University of California at Berkley next fall and plans on studying Applied Mathematics and Economics.  He hopes to eventually work as a Business Consultant or Researcher.

Erick was also one of four Mansfield ISD National Merit Scholarship semifinalists this year. A semifinalists is selected based on their scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.  A semifinalist is a student that has scored in the top 0.5% of the 1.5 million students that took the exam.

The Ellis Langston Memorial Service Scholarship was created in in March 2016 to honor the memory of our friend, member and Club leader, Ellis Langston who passed on February 15, 2013.  Ellis was dedicated to the service projects of our Club to better the lives of children in Mansfield and the World.  Ellis’ legacy of service to our Club and Community continues with this scholarship.
