Recently we received a note from Hasan Sumdami, a former winner of a Kiwanis Club Scholarship. Thank you Hasan for sharing the impact of our scholarship on your success!
Hello Mr. Kissinger, this is Hasan Sumdani. I was a Senior at Mansfield Summit High School last year, and I also served as one of the Secretaries for the Mansfield Summit High School Key Club for the 2010-2011 school year. I was awarded a $1,000 scholarship by the Kiwanis Club last year, and I just wanted to extend my gratitude to you and the all the other Mansfield Kiwanis Club members again.
With the help I received from the scholarship I was able to have a very successful first year at UTA. I managed to earn a 4.0 for both the Fall and Spring semesters, and the scholarship provided lots of motivation for me to aim higher than what I was just satisfied with. Throughout the school year, there were a few times that assignments and student organization responsibilities piled on and I lost my typical work ethic. During those times I was in danger of making B’s in a couple of my classes and disappointing members of the student organizations I was apart of, but then I realized how terrible it would be to have been generously awarded the $1,000 scholarship from the Kiwanis International Club and falling short of my potential. So with that realization, I pushed myself to work harder and longer in order to keep up with my grades and responsibilities and to give respect to you and the other Kiwanis International Club members.
I owe a lot of my success during my first year at UTA to the Mansfield Kiwanis Club’s decision to award me a scholarship. Please share
this with all of the members of the Mansfield Kiwanis Organization.
